Will there be a new Rushingwind & Mucklow album in 2017? Perhaps! Steven and Michael have been talking about reuniting to record a fifth album. Both are busy guys in their respective lives but maybe their schedules will allow enough time to get a new recording accomplished.
Steven and Michael are honored to receive the following award nominations from the Just Plain Folks (JPF) organization:
Best Native American Album
Best Native American Song
Cahuilla, The First People
Spirit Of The Wolf
Tears For A Warrior Fallen
Best World Song
Donald Blackfox presented both of us with 2015 Silver Arrow Awards for Outstanding Contributions to the Native American Music Industry. It truly is special when some one says “Thank you” for what you as musicians and composers bring to the music community. And our “thank you” in return to the Native American music community for your friendship and fellowship.
Our album ‘Strong Horse’ is on the ballot for nomination consideration in the Best Regional Roots category of the 57th GRAMMY Awards. This is cool!
The way it works at the GRAMMYs is your song/album first gets screened from the thousands of submissions to determine if it should be added to the ballot from which the category nominations will be determined.
‘Strong Horse’ has made it onto the nomination ballot, and we couldn’t be happier!
UPDATE: We did not get the nomination nod…this time. But we’re not disappointed. It’s quite an honor to have our music considered by the GRAMMYs. And to know, as indie artists, that we made a recording worthy of their consideration is a nice “nod” in our direction.
Steve & Michael are honored and blessed to announce they have been nominated in 3 categories with 4 songs off the album ‘Strong Horse’ by the Indian Summer Music Awards. This album represents Native Americans as a strong people, standing strong for their culture. Congratulations to fellow nominees, Gareth Laffely, Indian City and the others for their nominations. The winners will be announced in Milwaukee Wisconsin, September 6, 2014, at the Indian Summer Festival.
Two songs from the ‘Strong Horse’ album were nominated in the Best Native American Song category: ‘Ironwood’ & the title song ‘Strong Horse’. The award ceremony was on May 31st…we did not win the category.
The winner was the awesome Red Bear, a traditional Native drum powwow group. Our congrats to you Red Bear!
