About R&M
A mutual respect for, and the influence of, music of the Ancients and the Natural Elements brought us together. Native American flute and the guitar are excellent accompaniment to one another. You will find our music to be relaxing, meditative and healing.

Award winning & Nammy Nominated Native Flute Player
Steve is of Cahuilla/Opata and Mexican decent, born in the Los Angeles area in 1959. Steve has been playing wind instruments since he was a child, so the Native American style flute felt natural to him when he started playing it eight years ago. Now, after his first solo album ‘Cloud Runner’ released in 2009, he started collaborating with Michael Mucklow from New Mexico, and have recorded 2 albums together, ‘Ancient Elements’ and ‘Among the Ancients’. The song “Old Chief’s Pipe”, from the Ancient Elements album, won the 2011 New Mexico Music Award (NMMA) for Best Traditional Native American song. And the Ancient Elements album received two nominations in the 2011 Native American Music Awards (NAMA) for Best New Age Recording and Best Producer. Steve has completed his 2nd solo album ‘Sacred Grounds’ released in 2011 and will be recording his 3rd album with Michael during the Winter of 2011. So the journey continues with sound and spirit, always giving thanks to the Great Spirit. Aho~

I began playing guitar on my 16th birthday, when I received one as a present. I had promised to learn to play because I signed up for a guitar class at high school. I really had no intention of learning the instrument; I took the class only because I wanted to goof off.
I was a loner . . . we moved around a lot. The guitar became my best companion. From the start I made up my own compositions. Being a teenager, I soon migrated to the electric guitar, to mimic the hard rock music I was into. I was in a number of original rock bands, yet there remained a love for acoustic guitar music that was inadvertently introduced to me by a sister listening to her Crosby, Stills & Nash and Neil Young records . . . before I even learned how to play.
